Extreme Exhibitions came to Media Dog with a video request which really got us thinking.
They wanted a time lapse video of one of their biggest exhibitions being built. This was to be the Princess Yachts stand at ExCeL London's Boat Show. The rig was to take 3 weeks, the exhibition was then to last for a month, before the derig taking a couple of days.
So how exactly can we film completely locked off for nearly 2 months? Without access to the camera? Without producing a completely unusable filesize?
Well, we worked with our good friends at the Adhere Creative to create a piece of computer software to achieve just this. We rigged a Sony Z1 camera into the roof of ExCeL London, connected to a Mac Mini, with a clever piece of software telling the computer to record a single frame every 2 minutes. This was also connected to the Internet and the video set to upload to our server every few hours, so Extreme Exhibitions could watch their video as it was being built!
Combined with a few journeys down to London for the general filming, we were delighted with the final result. Our client was also delighted, putting on their website "The final video edit has totally exceeded our expectations and we are delighted with the result!"
The video is up to view on Extreme Exhibitions website: http://www.extremegroup.co.uk/news.php?n=news6
